A purposeful programme
We work with the referring team to understand current education, strengths, barriers and relevant plans. Teaching and review arrangements are agreed around the learner, with responsibilities and communication routes made clear before provision starts.
Agree subject or skill priorities and connect sessions to current education and the intended next setting.
Plan manageable routines and suitable adjustments, recognising the importance of trusted relationships.
Agree how attendance, participation and learning evidence will be shared and how this can inform relevant education reviews.
An example in practice
A programme might focus on rebuilding maths knowledge while preparing for a school transition. Learning examples and agreed updates help the team consider what is improving and what needs to change, including relevant PEP discussions where applicable. Activities are adapted individually.
Clarity before provision starts
Individual tuition or alternative provision priorities agreed with the Virtual School and relevant education partners.
An identified communication route, agreed adjustments and coordinated transition planning where commissioned.
GCSE, Functional Skills or ESOL support may be considered when appropriate to the learner. Awarding body, entry and examination centre arrangements are confirmed separately.
From enquiry to review
The programme, session arrangements and review approach are agreed before provision begins. An enquiry is the start of a suitability discussion.
Share education priorities and necessary information through agreed, appropriate channels.
Agree scope, timetable, safeguarding contacts, communication and review expectations.
Use agreed evidence to inform planning with the learner and relevant professionals.
Safety underpins the plan. Safeguarding contacts, relevant information, adult responsibilities and safe delivery arrangements are discussed before support starts. Safer recruitment and professional boundaries matter throughout.
